How do I become a live-in caregiver in Canada?
If you are qualified to provide care for children, the elderly or the disabled, you may be able to work as a caregiver in a private home in Canada. To be considered qualified, you must have:
- successfully completed secondary school
- at least six months training or at least one year of full-time experience (including six months with one employer) during the past three years
- good knowledge of English or French
- a written contract with your future employer.
After two years as a live-in caregiver you can apply to become a permanent resident of Canada.
